Opendoor and Zillow expand their partnership

The iBuyer’s Zillow-linked services are now available in three more markets

Just one month after announcing the launch of selling solutions in Atlanta and Raleigh through its partnership with Zillow, Opendoor is making the product available in three additional markets.

As of Wednesday, home sellers in Dallas, Houston and Phoenix markets will have the ability to simultaneously request both a cash offer from Opendoor and an estimated sale price for listing their home with a Zillow Premier Agent.

“We are excited about some of the early signals that we are seeing,” Brian Tolkin, Opendoor’s vice president of product, said. “Obviously millions of people buy and sell homes every year, and we introduced this product at a time when sellers are facing quite a bit of market volatility and uncertainty, and so the selling solution was built not only to service customers during these volatile market conditions, but really to empower sellers to transact with ease and confidence in any market condition.”

According to Tolkin, Opendoor and Zillow will continue to roll out this product across the country this year, with an end goal of making it available to home sellers in all of Opendoor’s markets. And while it has only been a month, Tolkin said the consumer feedback on the selling solutions is looking good.

“Buyers and sellers come to Opendoor from many background and moving situations looking for simplicity and certainty,” Tolkin said. “I was listening to a customer story the other day where a seller described what their process had been like, saying they had been in like 2.5 escrows because sales kept falling through and the process was just so time-consuming and agonizing. They had just bought a new house and they were spending so much time and effort fixing up the new house that they didn’t want to have to think about the sale of the old one anymore, and Opendoor was the best solution for their situation.”

Opendoor announced its multi-year partnership with Zillow in August 2022.

“I think there is something really exciting about taking the fact that Zillow receives 200 million unique view and combining that with Opendoor’s cash offer service to bring a simple, seamless selling solution to more and more people,” Tolkin said. “In slower markets, in faster markets, people need to move, and we are there to make the process easier and more certain for them.”
