NWG brokers leave Compass, launch new brokerage

Real Residential will focus on Washington’s Puget Sound region

Seven leading brokers from NWG Real Estate launched a new brokerage in Washington, Real Residential, after peeling off from Compass. The agency will operate from two offices in Seattle and Bellevue, the company announced through a press release.

Real Residential, an independent boutique agency, will be led by managing partner Nick Glant and partners Brad Cahill, Albert Clark, Steve Curran, Shawn Filer, Jason Foss and Galya Kirstine, who are all part of NWG Real Estate. In addition, 14 brokers from NWG are also joining the team.

Glant founded NWG in 2007 and grew it to more than $500 million in annual sales volume. In 2018, Compass acquired NWG as its launch partner in Washington’s Puget Sound market. Real Residential will also focus on this region.

“Compass has been our home for nearly five years, during a fascinating time for Seattle’s real estate market,” said Glant. “My colleagues and I have the utmost respect for Compass’s place in the market and its vision for the broker experience. With that said, we are extremely excited to get back to our entrepreneurial values of elevating the real estate experience for our clients with Real Residential.”

According to the statement, Real Residential will emphasize slow growth and take a local approach to real estate by employing team members who have expertise in particular neighborhoods.

“It is refreshing to know I have high-integrity teammates who can serve my clients at the highest level in neighborhoods I am less familiar with,” said Kirstine, one of the partners at Real Residential. “For instance, if a client of ours is looking for something in the Seattle market, I know I have several partners waiting with open arms and open minds to assist them as though they were family.”

The brokerage is also the exclusive sales partner to Western Washington-based luxury builder MN Custom Homes.

In 2022, the NWG team ranked fourth in RealTrends The Thousand in the large team by sales volume category, with almost $1 billion in sales volume this year.
