While the number of housing units in the nation expanded only .37% from 2010 to 2011, four states experienced more than a full percentage point increase, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
Wyoming led the nation, rising 1.11% to 265,528 in 2011 from 262,602 in 2010. Alaska (1.1%), Utah (1.09%) and Montana (1.05%) followed.
According to the bureau’s estimates, the number of housing units across the nation rose to 132,312,404 from 131,826,282, a difference of 486,122.
